Warped

WARPED is a video setup meant for a special experience. It takes you to a different way of being, where things seem strange, surreal, and not familiar. GDUG20 worked together on this project, guided by Anand Viswanathan and Jagadish Kumar. The goal is to give you a unique and interesting view.

Project Brief

Visual communication is no longer restricted to 2D

mediums. For graphic designers today, it is important to

extend its boundaries to the 3rd dimension. Knowledge of

spaces, structures, environment, light, textures and

dimensions needs to be addressed.

We explored more of 3D by taking into account these spatial

aspects, and making them sensitive to light, texture, color

and form in large surfaces while experimenting with the

structural and dimensional manifestation of visual content.

Within a tight three-day timeframe, our team collaborated intensely to design and bring to life a unique installation. We delved into various tasks, from 3D modeling and laser-cutting to sound design, motion graphics creation for projection mapping, branding the exhibition, to setting up the entire installation.

Facing a challenging deadline, the distinct structure of the installation demanded precision. Each of the 600 paper prisms, with its unique dimensions, required individual marking and careful hand placement. The pressure was on as all 21 of us dedicated ourselves to around-the-clock work for 24 hours straight.

Despite the intensity, we successfully pulled it off. The overwhelming response we received affirmed the hard work and creativity poured into this project.

Also being in the promotional team, I had an opportunity to create posters for the exhibition. Which was showcased in the different places in the campus and was able to engage the community.
